I have been fortunate enough to work with Graham for almost two years on various school development and coaching projects. Graham helps me see things from a different perspective and has been instrumental in shifting my thinking and leadership style. As a result the staff team on each of the three sites I lead has become a strong unit, working always for the best outcomes for every child and young person in the federation.
Through building teams, leading coaching sessions and mediation sessions we have been able to explore many concepts such as Johari Window, Transactional Analysis and considered different competencies to create an effective team. Graham has led our middle leaders to develop their thinking and ownership of the projects they lead on. He has had a positive impact on classroom practice through joint development with the leadership team of our appraisal processes, which I believe are innovative and have shifted from a box ticking exercise to a totally integrated system for coaching and performance management. Teachers look forward to a meaningful dialogue about their career and improving their practice to have the biggest impact on our students.
Graham is easy to talk to, he listens well and is quickly able to understand the situation of the schools and make positive effective suggestions for improvement. This has helped the whole Federation of schools to become a learning culture for the benefit of everyone, and has helped staff become more creative in their thinking so that individual student needs are met.
We successfully shifted the school during our last OFSTED inspection to “Good” having spent a number of years “requiring improvement” I believe that Graham’s support was instrumental in achieving this and we have a clear focus on the future to ensure we achieve our potential for our learners.
